Woven Coir Geo-textiles,
Mesh matting, hand knotted coir nettings
Woven Coir Geo meshes and nettings hold seed and soil in fact of
slopes, drainage ways and other areas of concentrated water flow,
preventing erosion during heavy rainstorms. Coir Geo meshes and
netting are a heavy woven mulch that stay put and cannot be moved
by flowing water, wind or growing grass. The openings between the
strands give the grass or vegetation plenty of growing room.
Non-woven felts : Erosion control blankets
The blanket is composed of 100% Coir fibre or in association with
other natural fibres. The fibre mass is held together by coir threads.
Material Composition
The Coir non-woven blankets are composed of 100% coir fiber randomly
needle punched to desired degree of compact ion. The felts have
excellent moisture absorption and retention characteristics and
form an ideal medium to plant growth.
Geo rolls & vegetation
fascines
Geo rolls or vegetation fascines are strong flexible construction
modules of a compact roll or coir web covered by an exterior Coir
mesh netting, which aids in the stabilisation and revegetation
of sites where sleepness or high exposure to waves or currents
causes instability. Their configuration and density help them
to maintain from without losing material. They also promote plant
growth and microbial activity. In flowing water areas they facilitate
new channel assignment. In standing water they initiates sedimentation,
facilitate vegetation and dissipate induced wave energy, Geo rolls
collect and hold mineral and organic particles, provide a physically
stable substrate for root growth and gradually bio-degrade to
leave a self-sustaining erosion control system.
Material Composition
The interior of the goe roll consists of 100% Coir fibre webs
cross lapped or air layed, flowed by needle punching or stitch
binding. The Fibber density greater than or equal to 1000 gsm.
And widths of 220 mm. Upto 600mm. The substrate is then rolled
into desired diameters.
Application Techniques
of Coir
Site assessment
The first step in the application of Coir Geo-textile is to make
a detailed study of the sites like, Slope Assessment, nature and
consistency for the soil cover, the extent of damage, rainfall
patterns, etc. to make the right and relevant choice of Coir Textiles
for the site, as well as the seeds of saplings
Self preparation and laying

The ground has to be prepared by removing protruding stones, earth
masses etc. and made reasonably even. Natural bulges can left
as it is. Before doing any seeding, the prepared earth work needs
to be relatively free of weeeds,s tones, roots, ticks, rivulets,
gullies, crustings and caking.
After preparing the soil surface, the seeds have to be applied
on the surface by broadcasting or by hydraulic means and the balnket/mat
to be laid over the sees almost immediately
The seeds/plants have to be obtained suitable for your climatic
conditions, preferably the local species as per clients. The seeds
after germination should take up deep rooting system. The seeds
should match the site soil conditions get optimum germination,
root development, vegetation density and long term longevity.
The erosion control blankets are to be laid in the direction
of the water flow starting from the top to the bottom. The top
portion to be anchored in a cut trench and stapled or spiked to
fix properly, similar is the case at the bottom of the slope,
The blankets may be anchored with 11 gauge wire staples, size8”x2”8”
(U shaped).
One or two dosed of sprinkling is recommended if the weather
is hot and dry. First days the moisture leaes are to be properly
monitored to facilitate easy germination of the seeds.
The blanket will protect the slopes against rain water. The vegetation
to protect the slopes permanently and achieve greening effect
on the surface.
Seedling/planting Methods
Quick Germination, sod forming, grass species be used whenever
possible, while seeding, planting always match the seed/ sapling
to be sued with the local soil conditions for optimum results.
Standard seed broadcast methods are acceptable prior to erosion
control blanket installation.
